Operations Commence at India Plant
Opening Ceremony in Gujarat, India, on August 20th, 2014
Halol (Gujarat), August 20, 2014: TOTO LTD. announced the establishment of a manufacturing facility in Halol, in Gujarat. Operations at the Company’s new India Plant are already underway. As a world-leading manufacturer of sanitary ware, TOTO has installed cutting-edge equipment and will be expanding its sanitary ware operations into other parts of Western Asia too.
As part of its corporate vision, TOTO has earmarked the “overseas housing equipment business” as a core growth driver under the TOTO V-Plan 2017, the Company’s long-term management plan covering the period leading up to its centenary (announced in 2009, revised in May 2014).
Having positioned India in particular as a key new market, the Company started construction of its first production facility in India in 2012. To mark the start of operations at the plant, an opening ceremony took place on August 20th 2014.
The occasion was graced by the presence of Srmt. Anandiben Patel, The honourable Chief Minister of Gujarat State and Mr Takeshi Yagi, Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Japan to India. The event started with the introduction of the dignitaries on the dais and followed by welcome speech of Mr Yasaka, The Managing director, TOTO India and floral welcome of all the dignitaries. Then after the lighting of the lamp was done by the guests on the dais. The ceremony was attended by Takashi Yamauchi, Executive Vice President of Mitsui & Co., Mr. Madoka Kitamura, TOTO President and Representative Director and Kazuo Watanabe, President at TOTO Asia Oceania Pte. Ltd. (TOTO Executive Officer and General Manager of the Asia Oceania Division).
Indian plant will enable TOTO to provide its citizens with technologically advanced, water-efficient toilets and everyone in India will come to know about TOTO products, and will continue to use them as a hygienic part of their everyday lives for many years to come. The event was followed by addressing by Mr. Yamauchi and ribbon cutting by the dignitaries on the dais. The Master of the ceremony welcomed Mr. Takeshi Yagi to say few words and grace the occasion.
